De Beers
The house that shaped the modern diamond trade.
More than any other name, De Beers shaped the diamond trade as we know it. It brought order to a wild and uneven supply, gathering the world’s rough into a single, measured flow.
From that came the sight — the controlled offering at which a chosen circle of buyers, the sightholders, are invited to purchase rough at first hand. The architecture of that system, more than any one stone, is the house’s lasting mark on the modern trade.
